Sepultribute & Trust in Peace

Klubi, Turku (Apr 18, 2014). As usual, click the image for full gallery.

Experiments with Olympus OM-D E-M1 continues. Though it is noisier when shooting with high ISO settings compared to 5D Mark III, the overall shooting experience has been very satisfying. The electronic view finder is really helpful when setting the correct shutter speed, aperture or ISO during a rock concert because you can actually see how's the photo going to look like when captured to a memory card. Believe me, it's really helpful.

I've been using M.Zuiko Digital ED 12mm f/2.0 and M.Zuiko Digital ED 75mm f/1.8. Both lenses seems to autofocus fast and fairly accurate, though I have had some what more blurry shots with 75mm. But the 12mm is a really good indoor rock concert lens and I can highly recommend it.

The size of the camera is very suitable for concert photography. I really enjoyed holding a camera that is a way lighter than my Canon equipment. When shooting outdoor festivals it will be much nicer to walk between stages with lighter camera gear. And when shooting outdoors, you don't even have to use high ISO settings, so noise-allergic photographers will be very pleased.

I have really enjoyed shooting with OM-D E-M1 and it is a camera worth considering as a second rock music camera body next to DSLR camera. Or hell, why not even the first choice.

FM2000 & Pertti Kurikan Nimipäivät

NOTE: Testing the Olympus OM-D E-M1 continues. Pertti Kurikan Nimipäivät -photo set was shot entirely with Olympus and FM2000 shots are taken with EOS 5D Mark III. By looking at the pictures you can hardly see any difference (if at all).

Demonic Death Judge & Red Fang (US)

NOTE: These photos are shot with Olympus OM-D E-M1. I was doing a test how well mirrorless camera with electronic viewfinder can handle concert situations. Normally I'm using Canon EOS system and I must say I'm very pleased how E-M1 handled the extreme concert lighting. Thank you Olympus Finland for the equipment.
